I went to Culinary School right out of high school. I loved the baking part, but I secretly hated the cooking part. Not that I hated cooking, I just didn't get a long with the instructors. I thought that they were too constricted, and they thought that everything I made sucked. Maybe it did?!? What I loved the most about the school was learning about foods that I had never heard of, and trying everything.
After a short stint working at a BBQ restaurant I wasn't able to pursue my culinary (pastry chef) dreams because of some health issues, so I went to business school. Just about 10 years later I finished both my Bachelors and Masters degrees (at least I finished, right?).
I still can't figure out what I want to be when I grow up, but one thing that I do know is that I love to eat! I love new foods, old foods, fast food, fine dining, and especially dessert. I have been cooking a lot more these days (even using tricks from school) and am always on the prowl for new and exciting recipes and restaurants.
I originally started this blog as a food journal, but I didn't make it to my 30 day goal. Instead now in this blog, I want to show off my culinary expertise - or non-expertise - everyone has those hit or miss experiences, right? I want to share some great recipes, and review some of my favorite places, as well as some new ones.
Here goes nothing!
